With about 16 days left in 2018, I was thinking to start a blog of my own to share my thoughts with all like-minded friends. I was wondering what could be the best subject I can speculate. It definitely would be on Marketing, my expertise area. The first thing that comes to the mind is to write on Marketing is Digital Marketing or Marketing Automation. I have observed that there are several articles written on these topics. I have then decided to chalk out something from my large scale marketing assignments and speculate their relevance in the marketing strategies for 2019.
Let’s get into the groove straight away and will let you weigh these options if it finds a place in your marketing strategy for 2019.
Include the psychology of persuasion into your marketing messaging to create a sense of uncertainty, urgency and scarcity among your audience. Create uncertainty around their pain areas, drive the sense of urgency towards your service or product and then play emotional building time bound scarcity towards your offerings.
However remember all three elements of uncertainty, urgency, and scarcity should be in a right mix based on the nature of your services and nature of your target audience. Customer/Partner Referrals come out of the relation and good work you do for them. Management Referrals pour in from existing contacts your management might have. Employee Referrals comes in from the previous professional experience of your staff. One needs to maintain a good corporate atmosphere to generate these referrals from your team.
As you recruit people of a particular skillset, it is most likely that referrals coming in from your employees are most similar to the projects that you are currently executing. These are the most powerful referral leads that an organization needs to focus in 2019.
Getting the influencers in your industry endorse or talk about you is the key to success in Influencer Marketing. It takes some time and effort to get into the eyes of your influencers, but it will all be worth it.
Shortlist the influencers you want to reach out based on your selection criteria. The criteria should not be highly ambitious but need to be aggressive at the same time. Reach out to the influencers with a strategy and start recording their responses. Start building a relation over a period, keep them engaged by sharing content assets and seeking their suggestions/comments on it. Once the relationship is strong enough, you can slowly make them endorse you and vice versa.

Just the way the open source works in technology where users form a community and help each other to develop and customize the rough framework, it operates in marketing too. Set some rough parameters and challenge consumers to get involved, or co-create. I am sure together they are ready to achieve some fantastic results.
